About Us

We moved from STL to NC in 2007 and love living on the east coast. Living here, we have been blessed to explore more of the US. In 2008, we added our beautiful yellow lab, Chloe, to the family. See below for more about her. God has greatly blessed us with another addition to our family, our sweet boy, Elijah John aka Eli. Eli was born on January 23, 2011. At 12 days old, Eli required heart surgery for a narrowing of his aorta. We only found out two days prior to the surgery but our family was very blessed to have so many people praying for us. Thanks to Jesus, the healer and perfecter of all things and the excellent care at Duke, Eli is now a perfectly healthy, growing boy. We have created this blog for our friends and family to see more of our growing family! Check out the slideshow to catch up on Eli's growth over his first six months!

First earache

Our sweet boy caught his first cold this past week and by yesterday it turned into an earache. :( He had his one year check up planned for yesterday so instead of shots he got a prescription for amoxicillin. Boy, did that bring back memories for me. I had lots of earaches as a child and tubes didn't really help. We are praying that this was just a result of drainage from his cold. We are thankful that he made it through his first year without getting sick though. As soon as he got his first dose of medicine he slept through the night again and started feeling better. We have such a sweet, happy boy!

Video of Eli eating a chocolate birthday cupcake

LOVE this boy!

Bathtime

A belly full of chocolate and a couple mischevious grins...

And a cute booty shot. :)

First taste of chocolate!

Eli, like his mama and dada, loves, loves, loves chocolate! I videoed part of this but am still try to upload it. So here are several photos.... so adorable.

Eli's new birthday toys

Eli enjoyed his birthday presents from mama and dada this morning.

Baking night!

I cannot believe our boy is a year old tomorrow! Scott and I are chocolate lovers so we agreed that Eli needed to be introduced to chocolate on his first birthday. I decided to make chocolate cupcakes tonight for his birthday and realized we needed to use up some eggs. So... I also made a german chocolate cake and blueberry struesel muffins. I bet you wish you were here! :)

Christmas at my mom's

Eli opening his gifts

He really loved sitting in this box that his present came in

He likes the toy too!

A few more fun pictures

Pops, John, and Eli hanging out.

John, Sophia, and Eli in their matching pajamas from Nana and Pops.

Eli playing on his rocking horse once we got home.

Bathtime with cousins!

I LOVE this picture! The boys are having a blast while Sophia may have appreciated a bath by herself. Needless to say, John and Eli made sure much of the water ended up outside of the tub as they enjoyed splashing and playing. So cute!

Christmas at the Edingtons

Eli met more family including Grandpa Omer and Grandma Dean at the Edington Christmas. Once again he shirtless but really enjoyed seeing all the children playing and visiting.
Here I am with John and Eli.

Christmas afternoon at the McKinney's

We enjoyed a great message and praised the Lord in many songs at church before heading to Leann's family's Christmas. Eli got to meet many cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandpa Wayne for the first time!

Here is Scott and John having fun.

Nana and sleepy Eli... with all the excitement of Christmas Eve, Christmas day, and teething, Eli was more tired than usual but still such a sweet, happy boy!

Just opened his first rocking horse from Grandpa Wayne and Bonnie. Later, I will post a photo of him playing on it once we get it put together.

Christmas morning!

Here is a sleepy Eli watching Nana pass out presents.

Cousin John sweetly helping Eli open a present. John also helped Eli master crawling on Christmas day!

The kiddos (cousin John, cousin Sophia, and Eli) with Aunt Jodi and Nana as they enjoy opening presents.

My sexy husband in his v-neck t-shirt and our snugglebug after opening gifts.

Eli's first Hartin Christmas Eve

Eli is a Hartin through and through and he was teething and may have had a slight fever. So... Eli opened his presents wearing only a diaper. Here he is modeling his new adorable hat!

This blue car and green ball from Aunt Suzanne and Uncle Rodney were two of his favorite gifts of the day.

Opening so many presents really wore Eli out. He fell asleep on Aunt Pammy even during the craziness of everyone else opening presents and visiting.

And of course he woke up hungry so Uncle Blake gave Eli a bottle. So sweet!

Christmas at my dad's house

Aunt Jane came out to visit us the week before Christmas and put our boy right to sleep. :)

Christmas Eve morning, Eli is excited for his first Christmas!!

Opening a package...

Our Thanksgiving week at Atlantic Beach

So I have some catching up to do on this. We spent the week of Thanksgiving at Atlantic Beach with Scott's parents and the majority of December in Missouri.
We were blessed to spend time with Ed and Leann relaxing and exploring a few new towns on NC's coast.
